I have been working at Desigual full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Fun atmosphere Fun product to sell Working with a great team Meeting international customers Room for growth Nice upper management/corporate (in NY) Free uniforms

    Cons

Pay could be better “Commission” is basically non existent No set schedule and working late nights and weekends(but that’s the sacrifice you make when working retail) Company is based out of Barcelona, which can make communication difficult if needed.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Desigual full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Very good working environment, best offices in Barcelona in front of the beach. Culture and values are unique and really great. You learn a lot in a short period of time, very nice internal events happening all the time (Fun stuff going on, they always find a way to surprise you), employees are treated very well, great Kantina. Good working equipment is handed. Great parking fees.

    Cons

Low salaries, not much work flexibility. It's great to work at HQ but it's not as great at stores. Not a solid strategy for the company as a whole, continuous changes of direction from CEO and Senior management. Not much training, no career development plan.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Desigual full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Strong control over projects, great coworkers, relaxed and fun work environment. "La Vida es Chula" is very strongly emphasized in the workplace.

    Cons

No structure and poorly planned operations. Desigual wants to do everything as a free-for-all and does not have a strong business mentality in the United States. The company has faired poorly here and resolves this with layoffs, which then results in other employees being over-loaded with too much work. They want to operate solely out of Barcelona, but cannot put enough care into the projects that they want to grow in the US. The pay is also low for the expectations placed on the employees. As someone who put a huge amount of personal investment into her job, please take my advice and choose a company with better structure and more security.

    Pros

Cool hip and young company. Good place to start a career and develop new contacts.

    Cons

Very, very disorganized. If you are mid level or senior the presure level is through the roof. Highly recommend working out of the corporate HQ in Barcelona. Otherwise you won't last very long.

    I worked at Desigual

    Pros

It was a great work environment. I was given sufficient responsibilities without feeling overwhelmed. I really enjoyed the people I worked with. The company is growing rapidly.

    Cons

The NYC office is small, a lot is done out of the Barcelona office. Overall, a great work experience however.

    I worked at Desigual

    Pros

1> The People. The people I worked with were some of the best coworkers I have ever had the pleasure to work with before or since. The spirit of the company is infectious and if you buy into it, when working together with you're coworkers, crafting something you feel you have ownership of, can be a wonderful and unforgettable experience. 2> The Company's values are indeed something to behold. Whether the company always lives up to them is something else, but they put forth more of an effort to at least live up to most of their values than not. 3> Travel to Spain. I got to travel to Barcelona twice in my time working with Desigual, and these opportunities are life-altering.

    Cons

Management- Desigual suffers from an extremely high level of cronyism when it comes to its US Management Team. While not all of these people in management are poor at their jobs, a few are very good. More than a few though are flat out incompetent and unqualified. Many do not speak English, many of those that do, do not speak it well, and some particularly in sales and in retail are unmotivated and treat their job as if they are on vacation with a company expense account. Many of these same managers are only there because they are related to, or in a relationship with the right people in Barcelona. Pay and Benefits- You will be paid about the very minimum for your field by Desigual....and less if they can get away with it. They will spend more on their office furniture than the people they have working in them. Three sick days for the year. 2 weeks of vacation to start. You don't come to Desigual to make money. Different set of standards for US employees vs Spanish- Very much two different groups of employees that are treated VERY differently by HR and Management. Haphazard Strategy and Workflow- This isn't unique to Desigual as many Corporate outfits have similar issues...but sometimes everything is held together by spit and glue. Management has a macro approach that does not consider the operational concerns, and often refuses to adapt itself to the differences in the US market.

I have been working at Desigual

    Pros

I was thrilled at the opportunity to work at a new European designer. They only have a handful of stores in the USA, but I see them becoming the next big trend. They have really funky clothing! Its also very exciting that Christian Lacroix is their new Creative Designer. I imagine that the fall collection will be absolutely AMAZING.

    Cons

Communication is horrible between upper management and retail shopkeepers. Although we are expected to adapt to constant changes in the company/market etc., they REFUSE to adapt to the necessary differences in our country. This is not BARCELONA. This is NOT Europe. There are different practices--there are different LAWS. Somethings are just unacceptable and it can often times we very demotivating.
