I worked at Deutsche Bundesbank full-time

    Pros

Pleasant team. Good support from managers and colleagues. Strict four eyes principle. Very efficient IT systems. Training opportunities available. Work generally interesting.

    Cons

General public-sector issues - some simple things take a very long time. Quite of lot of gossiping.. Job for life mentality and the pros and cons that entails.

    Advice to Management

As is always the case, it will depend on who your manager is. I'd say I was fairly lucky on the whole.

I worked at Deutsche Bundesbank for less than a year

    Pros

Possibility to write Bachelor/Master/PhD Thesis on an interesting topic using DBB's data, possibility to attend really cool lectures at Bundesbank and ECB during working hours, very flexible working hours, friendly environment, free library and sport facilities including swimming pool

    Cons

Bureaucracy, learning possibilities depend on the supervisor, uneven workload of interns, no air conditioning (very important during summer months). After 2-3 months of internship things become repetitive and long internships are usually not worth it

    Advice to Management

    Improve workload distribution between interns

I have been working at Deutsche Bundesbank

    Pros

Deutsche Bundesbank has a very good life-wirking balance with flexible working hours. For example if you can 2 extro hours today, you can work less two hours tomorrow or some day in the future.

    Cons

On the other hand, the bank has a quite stil working environment, that means people are quite sticking to daily routines. The personal management department is particularly a trouble with a lot of paper working to do if you have something to ask them for.

    Advice to Management

First of all it is a very precious to have a working experience in a central bank. The German central bank has a really hard-working staff force. Every one is delicated to his or her own task. But sometime there are difference between interns and formal staff. We understand that, but still hoping a more welcome working air.
