I worked at Digital Domain full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-Some Artists and Departments foster a real team environment and friendships -Friday Snacks -Sometimes has amazing projects

    Cons

HR and Artist Managers seem unwilling to do some of the less glorious parts of their job which ultimately negatively effects the artists and company culture. This fosters a very 'every man for himself' type attitude and distrust.

I worked at Digital Domain full-time

    Pros

Creative Talent with normal crunch time sprints. But team player atmosphere, really great.

    Cons

Management layers makes the company a bit top heavy, and slow to get decisions made. Not as nimble as smaller companies, but I think that comes with the nature of a larger VFX house.

I have been working at Digital Domain full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Digital Domain is a great place to work if you're a visual effects artist. You're paid well and compensated accordingly for your time.

    Cons

The management side is a little more frustrating. The hours are long and the pay is mediocre. There is a shortage of Production Assistants so you'll wind up having to do remedial production work in addition to Producer (and sometimes Exec Producer) responsibilities without additional compensation and/or overtime.

I worked at Digital Domain full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good benefits, good people, pay is average. Have time off when needed. I have no other pros. Training is horrible...run if they offer you a job

    Cons

Upper Management needs to learn how to manage or to speak to people. The HR staff is very unprofessional and blames others for their ethics issues.

I have been working at Digital Domain full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The decision making is split well between locations, at least for software development. So it does not feel like one location is just at the whims of the other.

    Cons

The history of the company may give a bit of reason for hesitation but it seems that it is on a very good trajectory now.

I worked at Digital Domain full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Lots of individuals with great talents. Had the opportunity to work on some big name projects.

    Cons

Management does not help employees to get promoted. There are also many false promises of promotions. This has been somewhat of a new culture that started recently with new management of the company. Almost every dept you talk to there are those who have been there for several year and want to move up but can’t. It’s who you know, not what you are capable of achieving. Sometimes individuals work very hard on projects and end up with no screen credit. Although individuals have talent, most are not willing to help you or answer your questions unless they have to. It’s every man for himself. Departments are shrinking (from artists to production) since positions are not always filled once a person leaves. More work is being distributed to individuals in similar positions instead. It’s a miracle that they are still able to deliver such good quality work! Digital Domain used to host great holiday and post production parties. This changed dramatically in the last couple of years. Last year, there wasn’t even a Halloween party and there was almost no food served at the Christmas party. It was scheduled to be right after work so individuals had not eaten prior to arriving. People had to literally wait by the door where the servers would walk out periodically with a just a handful (8 pieces at a time) of appetizers in order to get a taste. This shows a real lack of appreciation for employees. It was actually quite embarrassing to watch. Many people left and just went somewhere else to eat because the food never reached them and they got tired of waiting.
