I have been working at Double Negative full-time

    Pros

Nice place, people is friendly and you don't have much pressure but it comes with a big price...

    Cons

It is almost impossible to step up and artist management doesn't work properly as well as departments themselves.

-They don't take care of their artists and took the habit to extend contracts with very few days (if not hours) of notice. I'm sorry to say so but this is happening since indian management took over.

-You could be going for months without neither meeting your artist manager in person once.

-They use to brag their new show acquisitions and share their happiness with all the artists and then they say that there are big gaps on all of them and bla bla bla and thus let the people going away from all dept. while at the same time they are hiring new people for the same department - madness.

    - Sometimes they don't even know who is working or waiting for tasks, as a result you could be going even 1 months doing completely nothing while another show might be suffering a lack of artists like you.

    - CG quality is still way behind the average standard comparing with other similar big companies.

    Advice to Management

More care for the artists! it really needs proper head of departments that really know who their artists are. Currently it is too production oriented instead of department oriented, so basically by the time a show is finished nobody will remember you unless you work there for ages.

I have been working at Double Negative full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Friendly colleagues
    Relaxed Atmosphere
    Nice Office

    Cons

Upper management bad at making employees feel valued
    Not firm enough with clients
Overworking everybody and not acknowledging it
Allowances given with relocation are woeful

    Advice to Management

There is probably a reason so many people are leaving, people feel under valued - work on that!

Take another look at your relocation packages. The allowances offered to relocate to another country are sub par and don't inspire appreciation in your workers.

I worked at Double Negative full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are some good people working in the company and there is a chance to work on some good projects.

    Cons

The quality of the work has gone down considerably over the past few years. The acquisition by Prime Focus has, as many feared, resulted in a push towards more rather than better work. The company is hindered by poor technical decision-making.

    Advice to Management

Start behaving like an international company, not a British company. There are too many people who are unqualified for their positions but hold them apparently due to them being well-liked.

    Pros

You get to watch previews of Hollywood films before release.

    Cons

    1. Terrible infrastructure, toilet is always stinking
    2. Senior management lacks transparency, they expect you to do their personal work.

    Advice to Management

The Indian management is giving a bad name to the brand.

    Advice to Management

keep up doing what you are doing

    Pros

Nice work environment, relatively new building.
Central location, easy to get to via public transport.
Corporate, professional approach to VFX work.

    Cons

Challenging pipeline that creates more work than necessary. Software updates that occur weekly, occasionally play havoc with artist work and production software.
No opportunity to train up further or increase skills. Boxed in, in terms of advancement.

    Advice to Management

Take care when promoting staff, they may not be ready or have the right attitude to the job they are being handed.
