I have been working at Edmonton Public Schools

    Pros

Great pay, good hours, love my job, and honestly i wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. Very culturally acceptable and considering the amount of years I had spent going to school for this, it is well worth every dollar and every minute spent in school.

    Cons

Its not a seasonal job for me, I am always working, If i'm not at the schools teaching, I'll be in my office doing admin work. And the atmosphere is very passive so there is no real sense of direction besides the one you pave, which makes it very hard as the work does require a sense of criteria and if none is provided, the accumulated work will be inaccurate.

I worked at Edmonton Public Schools part-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you like kids I suppose seeing them for an hour a day to yell at them not to do things they shouldn't be doing would be good?

    Cons

Low pay, lazy colleagues, constantly change your schedule, colleagues have no drive and have been working as lunch supervisors for DECADES!, boring and unchallenging, no networking opportunities because the people you work with don't have a network worth integrating with.

I have been working at Edmonton Public Schools

    Pros

if you like kids and cleaning then this is a good job.

    Cons

if you want a job where you get paid to not work be a spare custodians as they go from school to school and most of them do nothing but yet get paid no one complains about them not doing their work...actually it seems you get more recognition when you do nothing but if your a hard worker the more you do the more you are expected to do.every day i go to work i feel like im just the cleaner, the teacher don't care about the mess they leave then they make it hard for you to clean by grouping the desk into fours or threes sweeping or vacuuming around them is a royal pain. You are also expected to collect and clean up after the bottles but are not allowed to touch them as ive been told its for the children.....yeah right!

    Pros

you get the holiday off, and you get 6 weeks holiday, the hours are pretty good

    Cons

The hours that a teacher puts in for marking and the abuse/ disrespect that a teacher has to put up with. The parents who accuse you because their child is not succeeding. The lack of support you get from the ATA
