Pros

Excellent working environment, very professional team, open to new ideas, empowerment of their collaborators, a very good work and life balance

Cons

In the region, they are not too large therefore there's not enough available spots for new entries at the time

  1. To date I have always been treated and rewarded very postively and fairly at AstraZeneca.

    Pros

Good facilities, benefits and great people. Opportunities to work truly globally and positive work life balance.

    Cons

Depending on function, there can be limited career progression opportunities, however if you work hard, and drive your personal career development, you are typically rewarded.

    Advice to Management

Really think through change strategies before initiating. Give organisational changes a chance to embed before re-thinking and changing structures/ strategies. Engage with employees in advance on proposed organisational designs.

Great people but you must leave science and move into management if you want to succeed.

    Pros

Great people to work with. The food served in the canteen is great. Everyone is generally very friendly. Only on rare occasions do you have to work beyond 40 hours a week.

    Cons

There are few opportunities to stay in science if you want to get ahead. Emphasis is placed on going to meetings, and more importantly documenting that you have been going to meetings. Scientists play second fiddle to management and pay rises for the scientists are very low.

    Advice to Management

Cut back on the endless numbers of managers with random job titles and start doing the science again.
