Pros
Both coworkers and management are some of the best I have found so far. After many years in one automation company, I was feeling burned out. I needed a change and worked for one company for 3 years, then went to what I thought was a larger competitor to BOS (I know now that they weren't larger or more professional) in 2009 where I stayed for almost 6 years. When I heard that BOS was building much more interesting equipment, I applied and was lucky enough to go through the multi stage interview and hiring process, was hired and haven't looked back. From full robotic-laser-cutting and CNC machining cells, Steel and Aluminum MIG weld cells, all kinds of assembly equipment, and now the newest cutting edge collaborative robot applications, I am dealing with new technologies and enjoying a decent work-life balance that I never have had before. As I said, my coworkers, from the other mechanical designers, electrical controls and PLC and robot programmers, to the toolmakers, fabricators, millwrights and machine assemblers, to the project managers and upper management, they are all very professional and great to work with. There is a monthly employee appreciation day held on a Friday where there is a lunchtime meal (barbecue in the summer, or tacos or subs or chicken wings) for EVERYONE, including any sub-contractors that may be in attendance, and an open social time after work. BOS keeps growing in size, a 10,000 sq ft addition was completed in 2016, and another 10,000 sq ft was added in early 2017, both are filled with customer equipment being built and ready to ship. A new set of upstairs offices were just completed to house the mechanical design, electrical controls and systems engineering groups, along with a new larger lunchroom and expanded men's and women's washroom/shower areas. It seems to me that there is one or two new hires every month, and I have recommended BOS as a great place to apply to for several friends that are tradespeople, and a couple of them work here now. The pay scale is also above any of the other offers I received when I was initially looking too. BOS logo clothing is provided for full time employees, and it is quality product, I wear it proudly.
Cons
Maybe it's due to the recent rapid growth, but when it gets busy, as it has been for the last year and a half) there can be some confusion about project priorities, but I have found that it is typical to every custom equipment builder.
