High medical premiums for mediocre coverage - Teacher Breakthrough Schools Employee Review

Pros

Most of the administration have sub licenses or expired licenses so my bet is you will know more than the people who are supposed to teach you to become a better teacher.

Cons

Lack of structure and direction. They spend 140k for principal salary who is incompetent and then claim they have no money to fix the elevator. Staff and students on crutches were forced to use the stairs for over half of the last school year.

Pros

Every teacher is in the same boat and feels the same

Cons

The environment is characterized by excessive micromanagement and a lack of meaningful training or support. Many meetings feel unproductive and fail to address critical concerns, particularly ongoing student behavior issues. Administrative involvement is limited, and interactions often occur primarily during formal observations, which tend to focus on criticism rather than constructive support or solutions. In speaking with other teachers, several have shared that conditions have significantly declined and described this as the most challenging period they have experienced at the school. There are frequent incidents of fighting, persistent disrespect, and inappropriate language from students, which contribute to a difficult teaching environment. Had I been fully aware of these conditions prior to accepting the position, I would have made a different decision. Additionally, the compensation does not appear to reflect professional qualifications or experience, as salaries remain lower than expected regardless of credentials. Next is the work load, how are we supposed to get anything done with constant pointless meetings and barely any planning time? You want to keep these students so busy, that you forget that the teachers are constantly a revolving door when it comes to giving work and barely a chance to get your own stuff done or update the gradebook. You all do not pay enough to take this work home and the negative energy.
