      Pros

      Great atmosphere of freedom - nobody's on your way if you want to challenge the status quo. Openness, transparency are highly appreciated and put into practice. You have the chance to travel a lot - personally I find this an amazing trait. Several learning opportunities.

      Cons

      Structure, rules and policies are useful. Sometimes managers - with a swiss/german management style - tend to overdo on those. Too much of a structure slows your work down.

      Great exposure to real plant operations and how engineering work impacts reliability, quality, and downtime. Hands-on troubleshooting opportunities—good place to build structured problem-solving skills. Strong process documentation environment (P&IDs/SOPs/LOTO), which helps you learn disciplined engineering practices. Projects feel practical and meaningful, not just “intern work.”

      Cons

      Learning curve: There’s a lot to learn early on (systems, standards, plant terminology), so the first few weeks can feel information-heavy.
