There is absolutely zero work/life balance at this company. They put the 'cult' in 'culture' and they are BIG on culture training at DLB. Since the company moved to being fully remote, they stress over-communication above all else, which sounds great until you realize it means not being able to do something as simple as go to the bathroom without taking your work phone with you. Their policies are unnecessarily strict and you are expected to check your work phone practically all hours (from the start of your day to 9PM at night, and also on weekends). The impression the senior staff/management give off is almost like they are trying to overcompensate for everyone being remote by pushing this sort of 'family' dynamic they want everyone in the company to share. Lots of people love it, but for me personally, I'd rather spend time with my actual family and friends. I'd much rather feel like I can turn off the work-mode switch at the end of the day and spend time outside of work without worrying about the plethora of mundane or insignificant Microsoft Teams message notifications popping up on my work phone that I am required to check.
