Working here hurt my career - Software Engineer EAI Information Systems Employee Review

Pros

Some of my coworkers were great people, convenient location near WES line.

Cons

EAI is on a downward spiral of losing clients and laying off valuable employees, then repeatedly attempting and failing at outsourcing engineering jobs to the 3rd world. The worst part is that the technology and the software engineering practices are so archaic that my skills are worse after having worked here for 3 years. Knowing every employee very well, I can guarantee that the positive reviews dated 6/13 and 9/13 are shills entered by the president.

Pros

First, it offers you the opportunity to gain and sharpen programming and management skills; EAI offers hands -on experience on both new and old technological tools used in the software industry. Again, the company has great potential, following the introduction of newer Microsoft tools which are on the fore of the software industry, plus the creation of new a technology team which applies the newest software tools in creating cutting edge solutions to our clients. There is a fairly good relationship between management and everybody in all teams and suggestions are welcomed. In my team, my inputs are accepted, discussed and implemented when they make sense and applicable to the scenario. I will also agree with the 1st reviewer in the sense that remuneration is fair for a company of this caliber and still do believe that things will keep on improving for a continuous cohesion of the company’s goals and employees’ expectation.

Cons

Management should make more effort to put up a more vibrant reward package for deserving employees apart from yearly reviews

Pros

It has a flexible work environment, good place to get early experience since you're thrown into the cluster from the start. Salary isn't bad and in the first few years there it rises til it caps.

Cons

Company does not acknowledge over achieving employees and in some cases you would find people who are either lazy or do not contribute much in the system being acknowledged more than hard working people. Management makes sole decisions and employees have little or no say. Where decisions made by management affects a project, the pressure is shoved on employees. Lack of planning and organization made on projects by management creating a mess and unsatisfied customers. Too much adherence to old technology and management refuses to see the way forward in terms of newer technology. I agree with previous reviews. Cap your years there at a maximum of 3-4 years and move on.
