Pros

Perfect personal-work life balance as working from HK you won't be asked to do much - mostly everything is done in Europe and you'll need to wait until 3pm to really begin doing things. If you work IT your direct manager is in Europe and will not pay too much attention to you, so you'll have plenty of time to run errands and whatnot. Lot of people have left or have been let go so there're plenty of displays available to choose from. Treat yourself with a double display setup from day one. Good restaurants nearby and on foodpanda/deliveroo catalogs. Free bottled water sometimes. Free electricity and wifi available. No problems dealing with insurance paperwork because everything is on your own - chose your favourite doctor at your favourite hospital and pay them in full. Add less worry to your life wondering whether you're performing well enough to earn the bonus because here there aren't any.

Cons

Mostly all communication is done through Hangouts / Skype and toilets can easily get clogged. English speaking skills are something really overrated here - you'll experience a really hard time decoding that portuguenglish. Lies, rhetoric and treason are the way to conduct businesses here - be warned.

Pros

If you want to learn about how an early stage business operates from product to tech to finance to strategy, an internship here will allow you to experience all that. Interns are given real work, and a high degree of ownership of projects. You'll work with smart and experienced people across 3 countries and everyone is very willing to teach and share knowledge. I learnt a great deal in 5 months on product management and web analytics (Google analytics, AB testing, Agile & Scrum, UX, CMS, CRM). I worked closely with the CPO who is an amazing guy - super experienced, fun, dedicated, smart and thoughtful and other interns who were also both smart and easy to get on with. Overall, a good stint and an invaluable learning experience.

Cons

There is some truth in what the other negative reviews mention, but as an intern, such issues would be rather irrelevant as you are not a full-time staff. The internship is what you make out of it, it is not super structured but this is a startup where everything is fast moving and would not suit someone who needs to be spoonfed. Depending on the personality, this could be a con, but to others a pro. The only con which should be noted is that HK is very expensive and the internship salary won't cover all your expenses so be sure to have some savings to subsidise the internship.

Pros

-Very dynamic and challenging environment, from day one you will be given real tasks, which is something quite hard to get for an internship/larger corporations -Experienced and articulate management team, and being able to work with them closely on a daily basis is a real plus -Can gain real insight into how an early-stage business operates and interns will be able to work in strategy, finance, marketing and product

Cons

-It is very challenging and also a bit chaotic with a million of things thrown at you. But again, hard work is needed to survive in this world. Definitely not for lazy and unmotivated people -Sometimes the managers' interest/preferences on presentations are not 100% aligned and it is difficult for a junior to coordinate -Lack of "culture"- there is definitely a work hard culture, but nothing really beyond that..
