Pros
Challenging work environment that keeps you from getting bored. You are managing 10's-100's thousand dollar projects which is exciting and rewarding. Some of the crew and management are great people to work with. Get trained so you can move to a company that pays more 😉.
Cons
Penny wise, pound foolish company. Management salaries are not competitive which leads to high turnover. Some Union members are useless but are protected. Some really great employees are forced to clean rest areas because of where they fall on the seniority list. This system doesn't reward high throughput employees and protects ones that cost the company more than just wages. Expected to work on call and overtime for free. Residual Racism in the industry.
