Pros
As an employee, you’re exposed to big companies and brands. In-office pleasantries like snacks, soda, and coffee.
Cons
Company is failing to meet numbers and are taking it out on employees. You’ll see reviews here about recent layoffs. These experiences are generally valid. Our company also has a culture of letting someone go and then keeping it quiet for days or weeks after firing someone until someone notices. Entry level employees are overworked and underpaid. Middle managers and Senior Managers try to step in to help where they can but are disconnected from other departments they don’t directly work with, which often causes the quality of work to decrease. Leadership either does not have a strong overall strategy for delivering high quality work, are not transparent to their employees about it, or do not know how to communicate it. You may know what your specific team is doing but may not really know how you’re impacting the organization as a whole. Worst of all, we have the audacity to tell the world and prospective employees that we are a top culture company. Let’s be real, they force us to take these stupid culture assessments to win the awards. While it’s not a toxic work environment, it’s definitely one that quickly can drain you and burn you out.
