      Pros

      There's job security here. Most employees at GNS are geologists who have only ever worked here.

      Cons

      The application development team is an expensive embarrassment to the whole organisation. It is badly managed, nobody in the team has any decent level of technical skill, and has a particular poisonous individual in it who only exists to make your life miserable. Salaries are abysmally low. Expect a yearly pay increase that's just below inflation.

      If you have existing networks and projects, there is meaningful work being done in some silos. The lack of structure/systems provides flexibility.

      Cons

      Funding continues to be cut, with major implications for employees. The organisation provides little support, and there is a large disconnect between employees and leadership.
