Pros
1) Most people working at the camp level are there because they are passionate about the mission and culture. 2) We run great camps. 3) After working here for 13 summers and 4 years in HQ, this organization made a huge positive impact on me, professionally and personally.
Cons
At one point in time, I thought Galileo could do no wrong. In the four years that I have worked at headquarters, there has been significant cultural change that has trickled down from the top. It's painful to watch the ways we've gotten worse. This is especially due to change in leadership, specifically in the Field Team. In a place that once embraced play, inclusion, and a people-first mindset, it has been heartbreaking to see a lack of perspective, empathy, and a corporate approach to the way teams are treated. It does not bode well for success at the camp level, given how much success relies on the people and retention.
