Pros

Decent training in technology and sales in general. Decent foundation to be shared with the younger sales folks and provided decent feedback.

Cons

Where to begin, I would not recommend going to sell for Gartner. They took me in and put me up in a mediocre hotel in Florida for three months for the training, not only was this depressing but just a poor way to treat an employee, many better options. They did not tell me before I quit my job and went down to Florida for their training in Q4 that there would be a “final exam” at the end. A final exam that they tell you after a few weeks of training that if you don’t pass, you lose your job. Wait... what!!!!!! I would not have taken that chance. The recruiter was completely NOT upfront with any of us about this. Not fair or just. The three instructors played good cop bad cop with the trainees and one would be nice while the others would be harsh. They play mind games like you’re in a fraternity or sorority the whole time and it’s a waste. Lots of little weekly quizzes and they play favorites in the class. During my final exam I was supposed to have a thirty minute call, and at that time, another trainee was supposed to have a call with our managers as well. It’s rumored that they usually put the worst/ lease favorite students first and naturally we knew we were done for. But what we didn’t realize is that they literally cut our calls in the middle of our final!!!! They literally turned off our phones for over ten minutes and pretended it was a technical malfunction!!! That’s so insane. They didn’t even give us our time back, they said that if this happened in the real world, we would have had to adapt and make the best use out of our time. Ummmmm.... whattttt!!!!!????? That’s so insane. After 3 months of training, they didn’t want to correct their “technical” malfunction and give us the same chance to run our calls on our final properly as everyone else??? The feeling is that they turned off our phones so we would be more likely to fail. That’s totally not fair and not just. Honestly mean and inconsiderate. They also were calling me “the yankee” in training because I was from up north. Completely biased and rude and downright mean.

Pros

Good benefits and work from home schedule

Cons

Gartner has lost much of what once made it a great place to work. The culture has become increasingly focused on micromanagement, with excessive oversight and an overwhelming number of metrics driving day-to-day activities. Employees are often measured on quantity rather than quality, creating unnecessary pressure and reducing job satisfaction. What was once an engaging and collaborative environment no longer feels enjoyable. Morale has declined as leadership places more emphasis on tracking performance than supporting employees. Staff are frequently treated as numbers rather than valued contributors, leading to frustration and disengagement. Overall, the company has lost its luster. Unless significant changes are made to improve employee experience, reduce micromanagement, and foster a more supportive culture, it will continue to struggle with retention and employee satisfaction.!
