Pros

The dispatch manager is the only reason that company hasn't gone under, and the only reason I'm still there. She knows what she's doing and genuinely cares about the company and it's workers b/c she know w/o drivers, the company is nothing. An ounce of respect from the one person who receives none from upper management goes a long way.

Cons

"Upper" management doesn't care about the company or drivers, as the president of the company put it "Drivers come a dime a dozen, terminate their contracts and hire some new ones" . He also eloquently stated that some drivers have been there too long and became "comfortable", and those drivers needed to go (there are only 2 of us who fit this description because the turn over rate is so high). The GM lacks the basic KSA's and responsibility to do the simple tasks which are written out for him, but b/c his father is the CFO, he has the position and everyone is scared to say anything about his job performance. Rather, lack of... So, it's b/c of this "management" that GoWaiter is a stepping stone for many individuals when it could be a career choice. It's an organization that prides itself on the motto it's not what you know but who you know, and in this case, if the GM likes you; you can go far regardless of whether you possess the necessary skills, motivation, and steadfastness to perform the tasks at hand.

Pros

Flexible hours, own your own company, cash pay every shift, freedom, no sandwiches to make or toilets to clean in between orders if there was any time. Full support of Dispatch while on shift.

Cons

Depending on the franchise location you worked at and the particular owner, if not at a thriving location you might not be constantly busy. My location was so busy we joked it was "pee in a bottle" busy. A driver working all day could make $100-180 per DAY. My location paid out cash after every shift. Good ownership/management is the key to whether orders are doled out fairly. Sometimes poor drivers were kept on staff but Dispatch couldn't send the high tip orders to them because they were not professional and did not follow the rules- verifying food was correct at reruns, low to no rerun history, in uniform, sober, etc. Yes, sobriety was a huge issue. The bad drivers that upset customers lowered tips for all of us. Once ownership started running background checks on all applicants, things greatly improved.
