Pros
The Junior Associate program is great, but once beyond that you're thrown to the wolves. The gym, happy hours, and parties are a good perk. Some of the employees are actually really nice and want to see their co-workers succeed. And most of the employees are very good at their jobs.
Cons
This company is FULL katty women, cliques, and power struggles. Employees regularly gossip, talk crap, are overly competitive and extremely cut-throat. The owner picks and chooses favorites and it not afraid to hide it. It's also a 'known secret' within the company that if the owner does not like you, he will make your work-life a living hell until you quit so he does hot have to pay you a severance package. I witnessed this happen on several occasions, even to employees that had been there for years. My major concern is the complete and utter lack of Human Resources. This might be okay for a smaller company, but when reporting violations or seeking personal or professional guidance, nothing changes or happens. It seems upper managements way of handling problems is to be silent and do nothing. My piece of advice is to watch your own back, and not get too close to any of your co-workers. Most importantly, although a lot of the more senior employees are good at their jobs, they perpetuate a toxic culture by acting as if they know more and are more important than others. Some managers have very high turnover rates on their team, and for good reasons. Some of the upper management (not all) are tough on their team members, expecting junior members to work overtime, forcing mid-level employees to learn on the job, as opposed to taking time to share knowledge and train others, and the senior managers are always competing to get promoted, which I have seen cause people to become nasty and talk crap about other employees.
