Pros
Higher than average pay, good vacation (sick days are counted as regular vacation days), excellent work/life balance with reasonable hours as a consultant and eligible for overtime, very good environment to learn from many different engineers with different backgrounds, many different types of projects available, responsive management and opportunities for advancement. Heavy emphasis on safety is nice to see in a large company in multiple industries.
Cons
If work gets slow, there's a chance you lose your job. As a consultant, you will occasionally need to travel to the project location. Pro if single, con if married/parent. Health insurance is pretty expensive. Once a project ends, you can be stuck in limbo waiting for the next big project.
