Pros
Not many. Employ nice people, and the team were very close and emotionally supportive of each other in an extremely toxic environment. A real ‘learn on the job’ approach as there is zero training and everyone was expected to be everything, regardless of job title.
Cons
Abusive place to work. Inappropriate, personal comments made. I was screamed at, inches from my face, with spit flying in my eye, (and red wine from the night before), multiple times. Like an abusive relationship, after one of these ‘episodes’, gifts would be bought to try and win back favour. Products aren’t safe and the business knows very little about safety testing in the cosmetics industry. Compat, Stability, challenge, and clinical claims are just a pipe dream to these people. It’s a few years since I left, and the mental strain and bullying behaviour have affected me psychologically in roles since. I genuinely think I should’ve seen a therapist to deal with the trauma that working here caused. There have been multiple court cases from former employees, details of which are unknown due to NDA’s. On one occasion, there was heavy snowfall and two young female team members (one pregnant) were stranded in Bath and unable to get home. Whilst the owners decided to use their company Landrover Defender to help people in the community for a photo op for LinkedIn and face book likes, they left the team members stranded and refused to take them home. They had to pay for a hotel in Bath overnight. It took me 4 hours to do a 20 minute journey in extremely unsafe conditions because they refused to let us leave when the snow started falling. I have a list of examples as long as my arm on the toxic behaviours of this company, but highlights include indecent exposure at a work function, telling sales team they could only get their bonus if they lost weight, and s.a on a female colleague.
