Great culture, very strong team, working on interesting problems.

My only real gripe was that the pace was too fast to devote much time to fundamental research or publishing.

Once upon a time, Pinecone was a scrappy startup with great researchers and a superior, category-defining product.

Then the AI boom happened and they raised a lot of money on the basis of high user numbers. But none of these users wanted to pay the high prices necessary to generate profits that could repay the shareholders. Pinecone began hiring people who specialized in downsizing, then laid off most of their employees. Now, few if any of the original staff remain. Best avoided.
