Cons
Absolutely terrible place to work! You have 6 patients during the day in tele/med-surg, there's like maybe 2-3 PCTs for the entire floors, theres hardly ever any communication between doctors and nurses, but if you miss something then everyone is on your case. the charting you have to do is way too long and unnecessary, they haven't upgraded any of their technology (we still have to drag VS carts from room to room rather than having monitors in the room) and the call light system is old, loud, and obnoxious, you will leave that place with a headache after hearing that all day. but mgmt doesn't care about any of this, they will haunt you down if you accidentally didn't "chart something" because they audit everything. It's not even about the patient anymore, all mgmt cares about is budget and trying to look good for administration, the nurse is not appreciated in this place! They will squeeze the life out of you. My full time job is at a nationwide recognized hospital here in Chicago, where they care about nurses and treat us well, which in turn creates good outcomes for patients. If you are a nurse who cares about your patients and wants the best for them then don't come here, your patients will die in front of your eyes due to the lack of resources, incompetent staff, and carelessness from this place, and you will feel defeated because nobody will be there to stand up for you.
