Pros

The company has had some good employees over the years. Unfortunately, all soon come to realize the failures and foibles of its troubled founder and leave as soon as they realize that the company is a horrendous can of worms.

Cons

This company was originally called PLACEMENTS MEDIA. I recommend that anyone looking at this Glassdoor review also goes and look at PLACEMENTS MEDIA on this same Glassdoor platform. The reviews there reflect the true character the founder and CEO of Prove who we all really know. Don’t be fooled by the fake good reviews that have been posted here. It is no coincidence most were all written within a very narrow timeframe around November 2018. The Prove founder has reinvented himself many times to stay ahead of his bad and unethical reputation. As soon as he is smoked out, his chameleon-like personality changes again. He has done this too many times now to hide the long legacy of his sociopathic past. He can reinvent himself again but thank goodness for the Internet where his name can be searched, and his sordid past can be uncovered. Beware, those who come to work here! You will be adding a black mark to you career by associating your name with the founder of Prove/PLACEMENTS MEDIA. Others have regretted it, and so will you.

I'd like to clarify a few things here. For starters, Prove itself has been in existence for 11 years now. Beginning in January 2020, David Vallejo was promoted to CEO and runs the day-to-day operations. He has over 20 years of Digital Marketing experience. You can look him up on LinkedIn and read the recommendations he has received. Prove is in great hands and has been building a strong team that delivers results for our clients.

Pros

I spent many years of my working career at Prove. It is an amazing family, all striving to deliver a great service to its clients, who span a wide range of industries. To me the fact that we provided a wide array of digital marketing and technology services gave me a lot of knowledge about different technologies (from Craft CMS to Angular to React Native to Wordpress to BigCommerce, Shopify and many other platforms we have used over the years. I was given the opportunity to evolve my own skills so that, while our main deliverables were websites, apps and API integrations of various systems (CRM, marketing automation, Twilio, Intercom, Google stack products, etc.), I never felt like things were getting stale.

Cons

Prove is a boutique and super-smart agency but doesn't typically do long enterprise-level website development. Prove is really great at doing websites and apps that are high converting but I was ready to move on and start getting involved in massive builds after so many years here. Sad to leave.

Pros

Lots of ability to learn and you get the ability to meet some really cool, dedicated people. You can work from home as well!

Cons

The biggest con is that you only get paid when your clients pay, and they get invoiced a month late. This should be defined and outlined during the interview process. It is unacceptable that they try to not inform you until after you started working there. So you have to wait at minimum a month and a few weeks to get paid with some clients not paying for over 4 months. On top of that, their 'contract to hire' is really more of a contract role. Most people who are there took over 8 months to become full time with a few exceptions (mainly friends of the leadership or the founders). I was found another job at 4 months when they would not make me W2. Many times, leadership will change rules and processes with little to no real explanation then not follow the new rule themselves but force their team to.

Thank you for providing your feedback on your experience. While the substance of your review provides some opportunities for a thoughtful response, we do feel that waiting a year to post it suggests that you did not feel a strong sense of injustice, as we took very special care to explain our decision not to offer you full-time employment more than a year ago. You reference two areas in which you had concerns. The first is your claim that you were not told about payment timing as a contractor. This is simply false. As an agency that has been around since 2010, we have worked with hundreds of contractors and our agreements are very clear about payment timing. We are truly sorry that you felt caught by surprise but we can assure you and our future contractors that our working relationships are smooth and without surprises. That said, we have taken steps to reduce the dependency on client payment timing because we value our contractors and have great relationships with each of these key partners. Second, you claim that our "contract to hire" is more of a contract role. We were also very clear that moving to a W2 role requires not simply the level of work quality needed for a permanent associate but also enough work to justify a full-time role. In your case, you pressured Prove to make you a full-time W2 employee because your husband had lost his health insurance. You gave us less than 2 days' notice and while we really try to help out in challenging circumstances, we simply could not make the full-time W2 offer you requested. Now, more than a year later, you post your concerns but have not fully laid out the circumstances. We believe that your characterizations are, therefore, unfair. Prove is a company with very long term employees and a great culture. We would have enjoyed working with you longer had your circumstances been different, as your work was professional and you were well-liked within the organization. Despite this review, we would welcome the opportunity to try to prove our character and offer opportunities to work with us again.
