    I have been working at QIAGEN full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    Benefits and the work life balance good depending on the department. There are a few excellent managers who serve as mentors.

    Cons

    Pay is dramatically below the industry standard. Many within management have been promoted into the role without any management experience just because they needed to find a position for them. Scientists are not as well respected within the company as they were in the past. The North American branch has large layoffs twice a year (summer time and at Christmas).     Advice to Management

    Eliminate the many layers of management and reward the employees doing the dirty work and investing countless hours. Listen to the feedback from high performing employees and follow up with the high performers who continually leave the organization to correct root problems.

    Pros

    Global vision is very noble Workplace flexibility is good Salaries are fairly good

    Cons

    Slave to the stock market - always pushing for revenue today rather than future profits Severe staff instability problem - recent country management increasing the problem Imported management doesn't understand local workplace culture or value local staff

    Look closer at how country management is treating staff Take time to invest for long term profits rather than pushing for instant revenue
