Pros

Job training is adequate. Frequent presentations about spray booth technology. 15 minute breaks allows for some breathing room.

Cons

Work is not exciting for anyone but the higher-ups. Too many pointless team meetings with a lack of direction. Very high turnover rate.

Col-Met continues to grow rapidly, and with this growth, the Drafting team has been impacted (positively) with numerous changes that improve our design practices and business processes. While we have many team members that are empowered to identify and address their own issues, these types of changes can seem chaotic at times, especially to newer employees. We try hard to over-communicate our direction, vision and expectations to keep the entire team engaged.

Pros

Generally good people to work with. Very willing to hire recent graduates, was the main draw for me in the beginning.

Cons

HIGH TURNOVER. I've been here about a year now and I can't believe how many people I have seen come and go. I get that drafting is not necessarily a long term gig for everyone, but when I'm the second most experienced on the team, and there aren't the appropriate resources available... We've got a problem.

We believe we have a strong work culture at Col-Met that incorporates great team members striving to meet our customer’s commitments on a daily basis. We do take pride in our strategy of hiring new engineering graduates and offer them training and development to start their careers. However, since this is the first work assignment for many hires, we sometimes experience expectations that are counter to our culture. This can lead to turnover within the department, both to internal and external opportunities. Col-Met has a long history of promoting and developing team members who perform well and integrate into our culture successfully.
