Thank you for taking the time to leave a review at Sumdog. We appreciate the feedback we get from all current and former employees. We are sorry that you would not recommend Sumdog as an employer. Alongside exit interviews and Glassdoor reviews we are placing more emphasis on the feedback we receive internally from our current staff through pulse surveys. I hope this means we can solve issues quicker and before it impacts our current employees enjoyment at work. Thank you again for taking the time to leave this review.

Pros

I've worked at Sumdog as a Unity Developer for almost 3.5 years - The coworkers were really nice. Competent and friendly. - The company was open to hiring remote workers overseas. The entire duration of the contract I've worked remotely outside of UK. - A lot of vacation days (26 work days of vacation + Christmas break) - There were several opportunities to come to Edinburgh. Beautiful city. - Working on something useful can be very fulfilling and motivating. Compared to F2P games and casino-like apps, this was definitely a better option. - Overall, the work process was managed really well. We were working in a small team that had Unity devs, PM, QA and a web dev. Jira was used for task tracking. It was always clear what needed to be done. - The compensation was good. I got a raise once after getting an offer from a different company. After a very awkward conversation with the CEO, got a counter-offer and decided to keep working at Sumdog at the time.

Cons

- The tech in the Unity project is not cutting edge newest stuff, so if you want to stay up-to-date with the most recent Unity-related tech, you'd have to learn it yourself in your free time. - The infrastructure around the Unity project seemed complex sometimes and there was a learning curve to learn all the systems - For a Unity developer at Sumdog, the growth opportunities are somewhat limited. You can become a valuable part of the company and make a significant contribution into the Unity part of the app, but you cannot become a lead of a team of Unity developers, for example, because of the size of the company.
