Pros

Great way to expose yourself to several clients across different industries

Cons

Employees are not valued - the senior management creates an extremely toxic workforce. Everything seems like rainbows at first; however, the company only values their online image and asks employees to write reviews on Glassdoor to hide some of the true experiences from employees within the company. That said, there is no freedom for employees at a lower level to express their thinking when it comes to strategy. The senior leadership will not change their thinking for best practices (they have been using the same best practice for YEARS) even though the marketing landscape is constantly changing. They will then impose their thinking on you without allowing another POV. Your POV is your most valuable trait in the industry, and you are not encouraged to flex that at Superbolt. If there is an expedited client pitch deliverable (expedited because the senior leadership cannot create realistic timelines with clients), the associates are expected to work on the decks beyond work hours or even over national holidays. This would be fine if the leadership team was also working on these decks; however, the leadership team takes their time off and enjoys the holidays.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am sad to hear that you didn’t have a good experience at Superbolt. While I can’t speak about the exact instances where you felt like your voice wasn’t heard, we generally love it when Associates contribute ideas that can help our clients strategy. We also expect Managers and Directors to be the ones leading the client strategy and it means sometimes not selecting all the ideas that are proposed to them by Associates. That being said, if an idea is not selected, it is always expected that you will get context on why it was not the case (which maybe is what missed here). Regarding best practices, we constantly make our internal resources evolve to take into account changes in our industry. I completely agree that we work in a very fast-changing world and we strive to always be at the forefront of growth marketing best practices. While I agree that it is good to have a POV and we love people that have a proactive mindset, we are also looking for people that have humility and that will be looking to learn from people that have accumulated more experience and knowledge. Finally, regarding the working hours, we definitely don’t expect people to work over a national holiday (really sorry if that happened to you - I genuinely believe that this is extremely rare). We do have phases of higher intensity but we always want to ensure that for the majority of the time, team members work standard working hours. Thank you again for taking the time to leave a review and I wish you all the best for your career. Best, Vincent Bourzeix (CEO of Superbolt)

Pros

- You get to hit the ground running with high-impact client work right off the bat. My ideas were taken seriously from the jump, and I got to participate in client calls and get involved in high-level strategy pretty early on. You really learn by doing, which worked super well for me—definitely not a style for everyone but I really enjoyed it. - Lots of opportunities for promotion. The company & creative team really value hard work and your personal contribution: you get out what you put in. They almost always promote from within. - Managers are deeply invested in your personal growth and and interests. I felt like my manager tried to tailor my work to clients I was truly interested in; after my first year, I started to get more input over the projects I was on and always felt comfortable expressing my preferences (which of course aren't met 100% of the time, but c'est la vie.) I felt like my manager trusted me and there wasn't a constant stress of "proving myself" that I've felt in other positions. - Really fun environment of young people. I made a few really close friends at Superbolt, in large part because of the buzzy social atmosphere. Weekly happy hours were a great way to connect with people across teams who I didn't regularly collaborate with. - Creative team honestly has great work/life balance. In general, the creative team tends have a bit more of a chill vibe than the marketing team does. The one time I worked on the weekend, the head of copy told me to never do it again and offered to take some of my work for the big project I was stressed about. Senior creative leadership would almost always take the brunt of tough client demands and large-scale projects. I never worked past 7:30pm.

Cons

- Only 1 mandatory in-person day a week. - Having a high concentration of young coworkers is a double-edged sword: a lot of people are still developing their grasp on work/life balance, and figuring out how to be both young n' hungry AND live a healthy, balanced life. Can be difficult to see others navigating this. (And navigating it yourself.) - Def a good amount of drinking culture at the office when we have happy hours which is not for everyone - Might be hard for an introvert. Very buzzy and talkative workplace (even just on slack).

Pros

- Impact is measurable. End-to-end project means you'll get to work with C-suite and VP level people, which means great learning opportunities. - Working style is collaborative. Strong Slack culture. Teammates are smart and highly responsive. Questions are encouraged. - Nature of the work itself is strategic and data-driven. You'll get to use first-principles thinking and use first-hand business data to support your strategies. - If you're into e-commerce and beauty, the work may be extra exciting because you may get to see what goes on behind the scenes of popular consumer brands. - Good reward if you demonstrate ownership. It's a boutique agency, and overall there is a tendency for meritocracy.

Cons

- Hours can be long during busy times. - Ownership & responsibilities are sometimes unclear given everything is shared work across multiple people. - You'll deal with lots of open-ended questions and requests from the client side so need to know how to work smart and when to push back. - Depending on staffing and clientele, clients can skew heavily toward the same industry (not really a con if your interests align with that industry). - HR can use some improvement, both on employee matters and prospective hiring.
