DEI initiatives feel performative rather than embedded in accountability or leadership behaviour. • Culture is hierarchical and political, with progression often driven by informal networks rather than transparent, merit-based processes. • Speaking up is not psychologically safe. Challenging the status quo is discouraged, and concerns are frequently minimised rather than addressed. • High levels of disengagement and turnover are treated as normal rather than as warning signs.
