    Pros

Benefits, Salary, Career Longevity, Job Stability

    Cons

Long hours, & growth. Good companies tend to retain talent. This means career growth can take a while since certain positions do not open frequently. Plan to make this your career in order to advance.

I worked at Toyota North America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company offers nice benefits package and respects home life in some departments. Bad managers don't get disciplined instead they are promoted because getting fired at Toyota is nearly impossible.

    Cons

Move to Plano TX has created a very toxic work environment. The good employees stayed in California and the bad ones moved because they didn't have a choice. Culture of "If you aren't a Californian than you aren't part of the team" Very stubborn "Anti-Kaizen" culture that is not willing to listen to different views on doing something better to streamline a process. Most long term employees have no other experience other than Toyota and when someone comes in that has worked for multiple companies and seen various ways to do things they are classified as "non-compliant". Toyota catch phrase should not be "kaizen" instead it should be something like "We have always done it that way so why change".

    Advice to Management

Toyota still makes a good vehicle but the growth of Toyota is slowing and the speed of other manufacturers is speeding up. Better start listening to new ideas and new ways to do things or Toyota will fumble eventually. Toyota is still a big ship and with big ships they can only turn slowly. But that also means that big problems are often slow to be discovered and taken seriously.

Stop hiring people based on family and friendship and start hiring people with qualifying skills and job history. HR also needs to address age and sex discrimination in the work place by many of the managers.
