Pros

- Projects are unique, with all shapes and sizes, sometimes working with big-name architects/engineers - Reputation as an industry leader - Great place to learn fundamentals and continuously throughout career - Job security, though not necessarily stability (see Cons). They almost never fire anyone. - There are some truly friendly, bright, talented, hard-working individuals.

Cons

- Career Structure. If you're looking to work hard and move up fast, this is not the place to be. One demonstrating consistently "high performer" annual reviews will not expedite your promotion compared to a peer who receives "solid performer" annual reviews. Promotions during the first decade (levels 1-4) are 99% length-of-service-based, not merit-based as advertised. This is reflected in compensation. - Politics. Though some level of this can be expected in a larger company. - Compensation & Benefits. Compensation is industry standard, nothing special, nothing to complain about. Raises = inflation rate. 401k match is low. Vacation starts at 2 weeks, caps at 4 weeks. Tuition reimbursement is laughable. Bonuses are an extra paycheck until you hit level 5 (in 15 years). - Diversity. Not much and management is awkward about it. Diversity groups have no positive impact to career and HR pushes to simply hire more ethnically-diverse candidates. - Job Stability. Turner has a tendency to let you know you'll be moving to a new project site or internal role (not always a promotion) in two weeks or less. Younger employees can usually adapt, but it becomes more difficult with age with respect to lifestyle changes. Yet, if you're in the industry, especially in the field, you're probably aware of this. - Those in office roles (estimators, procurement agents, cost estimators) are traditionally viewed as less distinguished than their field (supers, engineers) counterparts in the eyes of upper management.
