Pros

Some of the supervisors are supportive and work is not difficult, workload (if managed properly) is not bad. This could be a very rewarding job, you are providing services for people in need, sometimes you are their only ray of Hope. If upper management would just listen to the employees, there are viable options that will help the management and employees.

Cons

Upper Management is completely unreasonable they have either never been a Benefits Worker or it has been so long that They have no idea how much work goes into the position. Office is run by fear tactics where everyone is afraid of losing their job, an office run on fear will never succeed. This is the most discriminating office I have ever worked, if you are caucasian and educated this IS NOT the office for you, you will never get ahead. The city's Human Resource department has no idea how crooked and underhanded the hiring practices are in this organization - they have a few people who hire who they want and if they aren't the most qualified they change the hiring matrix to meet their friends criteria. If you are educated and Caucasian you are automatically on the bottom of the hiring list, there is no reason to apply. And if you do apply it takes 5-6 months from interview to start date.
