I worked at Web Applications UK full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    * They do their best to look after their staff making it a fun and comfortable place to work especially for the younger staff members. Over the last couple of years, multiple benefits and initiatives have been brought in to ensure staff members are well looked after, both physically and mentally. * Friday afternoons are dedicated to Professional Development which often involves training courses run by the more experienced...

    Cons

    * Salary rates are far behind the industrial average, the flashy benefits they pride themselves on are designed to draw in young, inexperienced engineers on lower than expected salaries. * There’s a lot of micromanagement in the day to day running of the company where the office manager rules with an iron fist. Miss one minute on your timesheet, one step of a process or just generally catch her in a bad mood and you’ll...

    Advice to Management

Learn to appreciate experience an the value it can have within the company rather than being completely focused on hiring cheap engineers.

    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Web Applications UK full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - The project I worked on for 3years was a dream one and I'm forever grateful to web applications for making it a reality.

    Cons

    - Working with various levels exposed me to ridiculous management team especially Craig. He is so condescending, arrogant and abusive.

    Advice to Management

    - Craig and the team need to make the environment really an environment. Everyone was literally scared and unable to perform at their optimum.

I worked at Web Applications UK full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Real focus on learning and improvement, starting from low-level concepts and old tools. If you show good knowledge in areas specified in the job spec and a real desire to learn, they will take you in. Overlooking experience, background.

    Cons

-lots of time spent on support duty (with terrible equipment) -extremely rare to use a new tool or framework -felt like no design patterns were ever mentioned apart from OOP -weirdo CEO -located in Oldham -low pay -poor benefits -no flexibility in type of work you do
