No trust in employees + strange business direction - Anonymous employee Z2 Employee Review

Pros

You can experience some fast-paced and hot industry with nice and young employees. Except some upper management folks, many are fun to work with. Maybe some free food and free lunch, but they're...pretty much like Costco trail mix and cheap pizza.

Cons

It's a joke - disguising as an "Internet Usage Policy", Z2 forced their employees to sign on the letter that says "sending or posting information that is defamatory to the company" is "unacceptable". I hear CEO always complains about the Glassdoor (and orders some to leave fake reviews; you can easily tell which one is fake) and now, he's trying to stop his employees from posting anything negative. Really? You will be treated like a child here (with all that famous Z2 censorship) if you work here. This company (or CEO) also has very questionable business tactics. Or just "a" tactic - expanding to new platforms forever. Period. Although they have (only) one decent (but old and cruelly boring) product with seemingly a best team/PO for it in Z2, they are making same stuff repeatedly over everywhere without any further update/changes. Mac/Amazon/Steam? What's next? Don't be surprised if Z2 does Xbox or Windows phone.

Pros

I worked at Z2 for nearly 2 years, and I feel like I should add my two cents here. First of all, this is a highly competitive industry, and there is an expectation of competency and passion at this company. If you are good at your job, not a slacker, and you have a passion for the business of making mobile games; this is a great company to work for. I had a generally good experience in my time at the company. I noticed some of the reviews on this site are singling out specific execs and attacking them personally. However, my experience with management, such as Lou Fasulo (CEO), was not at all like what I read from those reviews. I found him to be determined to make Z2 a great company. Every company has its growing pains, and there will always be those who feel personally targeted by big business decisions, such as downsizing or canceling a title-in-development -- but again, I feel like I was always treated fairly and honestly by upper management in my time there. Take it for what it's worth.

Cons

Relatively demanding game-development environment is not for everyone; and can sometimes make work/life balance difficult to maintain. Occasional growing pains.
