I worked at Equinox Fitness full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Free membership to Equinox facility/classes - Very good sales process training and resources

    Cons

    - Each club is like a fiefdom, with GMs determining the environment. Can lead to toxic workplace if the wrong person is in charge - Very cliquey - Constantly changing expectations for performance, making it difficult to stay in good-standing and advance - Upper management expects a "drink the koolaid" mentality from club-level staff. There is little room for pushback - Management is often vindictive and driven by the personal rather than the professional - Non-existent HR; no real means of confidentially escalating issues/addressing workplace concerns without retaliation - No work-life balance at all. Don't plan on having a life during closeout - weddings (even your own) will become an issue if they take place during the last week of the month

I have been working at Equinox Fitness full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - great initial training, they teach you everything you'll need to know - free membership! - private office - flexibility to decide how you want to spend your workday

    Cons

    - senior employees (who already have the biggest network for referrals) also get the better shifts with the most leads - usually schedules don't have two days off in a row

I have been working at Equinox Fitness full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Generally cool coworkers, (for the most part) get what you put into it, the more sales you make the more you get paid exponentially (so if you're organized, you can make a lot of money with minimal intellectual work)

    Cons

Mgmt forces sales goals on you, doesn't understand when leads run dry, mgmt has such a focus on 'activity' (emails/calls/appts), closeout (last 3-4 days of every mo) are 12-15 hour days for no reason.

I worked at Equinox Fitness full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    * Gym access, discount on personal training * Good place to network to find a better job! * Fast growth if you fall into their cult and have no life besides it. * OK benefits. That's it!

    Cons

    * LONG HOURS, especially last 4 days of the month which needs to be phased out ASAP * MINIMUM pay - $15K a year base - Some months you won't sell much and you will start negative in case of cancelations inside 90 days of a sale. The pay, hours and job exceptions WILL CAUSE you stress & anxiety. * Terrible, unprofessional managers. * Cut-throat culture - They will get rid of you for any reason. * Unrealistic goals for the horrible pay. * No culture, no friends, lots of drama and politics from fake people. * Company pretends to care but all they care is making the monthly goals, and they will prison you til midnight at the last day of the month. * No heart, no soul, no culture. * Leads don't come in, you have to go out and get them which is difficult. If they come it will be a war zone of objections; "Can't afford", "I want to try". * MICRO-MANAGING - they will go over emails and texts and micro-manage your soul. * HIGH turn over - People realize what they came into and run away. In 4 months of work -3 different GMs, MAs factory - no one lasts.

I have been working at Equinox Fitness full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Free membership. That’s pretty much the only good thing about working here.

    Cons

There is a lot of pressure to meet and exceed unrealistic sales goals. You are expected to work from 8am-midnight on the last 3 days of every month. You only get one weekend day off. The comp plan isn’t great. You will never receive any kind of validation or pat on the back for your hard work. Your training and nutrition will go out the window because you’re expected to sit and send 300+ emails per day. You’re supposed to get 1.5 hours every day to workout but you’re never actually allowed to do that.
