I worked at Equinox Fitness full-time for more than a year

    Pros

you can make a lot of money if you meet goals and get commission, lots of perks of working in a gym, great customer facing role, lots of employees, great discounts, networking opportunity, working with sales manager to make your schedule, you control your own business and how much money you make

    Cons

working 3-12 hr shifts the last 3 days of the month, working overtime (but you are compensated), sometimes management is unaccountable and not the best fit, members coming to you with complaints you can't assist with, passive-aggressive behavior when meeting goals, money-oriented instead of customer- oriented (depends on management), no room for advancement within the company (with this particular position), if there are senior advisors on your team it can be hard to evenly distribute business, the first 3 months are a grind to get your business successful

I worked at Equinox Fitness full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Free membership to Equinox facility/classes - Very good sales process training and resources

    Cons

    - Each club is like a fiefdom, with GMs determining the environment. Can lead to toxic workplace if the wrong person is in charge - Very cliquey - Constantly changing expectations for performance, making it difficult to stay in good-standing and advance - Upper management expects a "drink the koolaid" mentality from club-level staff. There is little room for pushback - Management is often vindictive and driven by the personal rather than the professional - Non-existent HR; no real means of confidentially escalating issues/addressing workplace concerns without retaliation - No work-life balance at all. Don't plan on having a life during closeout - weddings (even your own) will become an issue if they take place during the last week of the month

I have been working at Equinox Fitness part-time

    Pros

Get to use the steam room

    Cons

absurdly low compensation, tons of unpaid work. This is NOT a personal training job, this is a SALES job. The effort required to ramp up is better spent at a real sales job where you are making way more money. You'll make less than minimum wage here.

I worked at Equinox Fitness part-time for more than a year

    Pros

You meet great people and learn how to hustle!

    Cons

You must spend all your time there with essentially no pay and you are working ridiculous hours for minimum pay. The hustle is real, best bet is to find your clients and go private!
