I have been working at Equinox Fitness part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great way to network and meet people!

    Cons

Managers don’t train you if you have never worked in retail and expect you to know everything immediately. You are reprimanded for not knowing stuff instead of being shown or taught.

I have been working at Equinox Fitness part-time for more than a year

    Pros

You get a 40% employee discount off shop clothing 3 days a week, and 40% off personal training and spa services. You get to work in leggings and comfy clothes. Free gym membership, and if you befriend the trainers you can get some complimentary training. The work is easy for the most part. If you want more hours you to have to opportunity to cover shifts at nearby shops for extra $$.

    Cons

Turnover is high so it can be difficult to get shifts covered. There is no work-life balance for any Equinox employee except maybe the maintenance crew - Equinox will become your life. You'll get texts about work from management outside of your shifts often. Breaks during your shift aren't a thing. Rules are constantly changing and are always effective immediately - if you don't immediately know about it you're to blame. If you don't hit your goal you don't get commission - but even if you do hit and get commission it's an absurdly low percentage (2-3%). Equinox tends to hire young, attractive people so there's drama in the workplace because relationships among the staff are not discouraged at any level. There are blackout hours so there's about 5-6 hours that the club is open that employees aren't allowed to work out during.

I have been working at Equinox Fitness part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Management is great, the atmosphere is laid-back. Commission is based on your sales and goals. IF the shop reaches the monthly goal then the commission goes up. There are also bonus's for sales over $500. This is a self-driven place since only one person works at a time. It's all on the sales associate to make the sales happen, and it shows who is working and who isn't. We get free membership and discount on shop items, spa treatments and personal training.

    Cons

It can get boring at times when the gym is in slow traffic. I find myself cleaning a lot and reorganizing the shop to make myself busy. That's pretty much it.

I worked at Equinox Fitness part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Consistent schedule and client base which means you'll see the same people/be able to build a report with them and figure out what they like. Management does not micromanage and you have the help of other shops when looking for specific items. They also do a good job getting managers of other shops to your location to train/show you things that work at their shops. Great way to learn and try something a little different.

    Cons

Depending on your location (foot traffic/timing of visits) some shifts have a better chance to sell. That said, unless you live and breathe active wear/fashion the job can get a little boring.

I have been working at Equinox Fitness part-time for less than a year

    Pros

I worked in retail for several years before joining the Equinox family, and I'm very happy with it. I've honestly experienced some of the worst of retail, so I can definitely appreciate how good I have it at Equinox. Let me break it down: -No crazy hours. I used to work at a giant corporate mall store and would have extremely taxing shifts that went from 5pm to 2am - for the same pay I get at Equinox. The Shop at Equinox is very manageable in terms of workload. -Management is driven and organized, but not micromanaging. They are understanding and laid back, but not incompetent. Hard work and achieved goals are recognized. -Coworkers in general are all very nice people - Equinox has a great culture to it. -This is one of the biggest pros for working at Equinox: free gym membership! As an employee, you can get access to any club that isn't an executive location. -Various discounts - 40% off of shop merchandise, 40% off of personal training/Pilates, 40% off of spa treatments, and 10-15% off of Earth Bar's food/drinks. -Schedule is given out an entire month in advance, which is very appreciated. Many other service jobs will give you your schedule a mere week before, which makes it so hard to have a good work/life balance and plan things. Not the case here! -Well respected brand and company. You can take pride in where you work.

    Cons

-The pay - they start you off at $9, which is really hard to live off of. Coupled with a general lack of shifts (you'll likely work an absolute max of 14 hours a week), it's tough. If you are living at home or a student, however, it's very manageable. -Sometimes the sales goals set are unrealistic and can be stressful. -Getting a shift covered can be very difficult at times, due to a lack of coworkers (I have 3). Plan accordingly, and try not to get sick! That's basically it...overall, Equinox is a great place to work retail.
