Good place to start, eventually becomes stepping stone.

    Pros

Great exposure to high traffic clubs with wealthy clientele. Their on-boarding supports new trainers to practice as much as possible. Good perks/discounts. Depending on the location, coworker bonding and culture can be a plus. ***Also, please note that Glassdoor only allowed me to choose one number for salary, but it really varies depending on your Tier level and amount of clients trainer per month. You can make 25k-90k in a standard club. It's what you make of it.

    Cons

Upper management (your manager's manager) does not care about the people. And that's pretty much anywhere in the NY Metro area. Now of course, this always depends on the year, region, etc. but at the time I was employed I noticed lots of toxicity and inappropriate pressure placed on our managers, leading to - you guessed it - inappropriate pressure and toxicity placed on the trainers. Equinox also has trouble keeping talent. As soon as a trainer leaves their newbie green phase and forms some level of skill and following, they quit. Equinox needs to figure out a way to support and retain their talent. Also, the culture is generally incestuous, with trainers hooking up with other trainers, and sometimes with management. However, all of these negatives are pretty common for all gyms, so Equinox at least supports your learning process as a new professional, and offers pretty cool perks/discounts. Large discounts on apparel, spa, etc. Access to any Equinox gym location, except for certain "off-limits" clubs. Just take my advice and treat this job like it treats you: a stepping stone to prepare you for something better.
