I worked at Estée Lauder Companies part-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Free product allowance and a chance to make some wonderful friends

    Cons

Very cliquey environment and senior management deliberately play staff off against each other to cause friction

    Advice to Management

Estée Lauder Management in Victoria need to focus more on encouraging team work instead of playing favorites and discouraging strong team relationships. Be nice not nasty and unprofessional

Former Employee - Counter Staff Member Beauty Advisor in Melbourne

I worked at Estée Lauder Companies part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Access to staff shop, lovely customers and great immediate work colleagues . Christmas or awards events and night are fun, meeting staff from other brands is also great

    Cons

Aggressive Area Management and State Management, unrealist expectations on staff, poor communication and lack of career advancement unless of course you were well liked by state manager.... very very poor upper management. Management don’t give credit where credit is due, but don’t hesitate to belittle or backstab staff when the themselves cause the issues

    Advice to Management

Advance the staff that prove they are capable or have worked hard to succeed with good results etc. it’s sad that unless your good friends, related or suck up you can’t go further within Estée Lauder Vic. Years of service mean nothing to this company

I worked at Estée Lauder Companies part-time

    Pros

Beautiful product and fantastic brand Great customers Good discounts on products across Estee Lauder companies' brands

    Cons

Terrible middle management A lot of them are promoted from counter level, with no corporate experience or understanding of business A lot of competition between counters, to the point of lying, backstabbing and 'dobbing' on each other to get ahead. Middle management tended to play favourites and not investigate situations before escalating to head office. Usually working in a big department store, have to deal with...

    Advice to Management

Review your area/regional managers. If your brand has high turnover on counter, there is probably a good reason! Maybe hire experienced back office staff instead of promoting inexperienced retail workers.

I have been working at Estée Lauder Companies full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Amazing benefits for full time employees, unheard of in this industry. Lots of opportunities for promotion, though it seems promoting from within depends on the brand. Pay also depends on the brand, but is generally really good, especially for retail. Great discounts.

    Cons

Often not treated like a human, company is only with numbers and sales. Weekends and evenings like all retail jobs. Rarely promote from within anymore. Disorganized.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like they are not robots. Promote from within so that managers actually sound like they know what they are talking about.
