    Cons

Not enough training for pension department and metrics are hard to meet in the pension department when you’re working with more mature customers.

    Advice to Management

    More development trainings are needed.

I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great 401k match if you can afford to contribute. Profit sharing, PTO is given at the beginning of the year, the people work with, training program was good when I went through it, they help pay back your student loans.

    Cons

It’s a typical call center with hours all over the place. They will tell you there is no “mandatory” overtime but there is and if you opt out of it you will get nasty messages. Bonuses are based off of call surveys which sometimes you will get a bad survey that wasn’t even from a call you took and there’s nothing you can do about it. Even if you move to another product you will still be overloaded with 401k calls.... If you have to go to the bathroom and it’s not during a break or lunch it counts against you. If you don’t plan your days off at least a month in advanced it counts against you. There are more things that count against you then for you. The environment has gotten really bad lately and you can feel it when you walk in the door. Fidelity throws benefits at you but then doesn’t bother to check in on the call center. Turnover rate is really high.

    Advice to Management

Take a look at your call center. Offering a raffle in exchange for overtime hours mean nothing. Passing out a $1 snack item for working a 12 hour day means nothing. Look at other companies around you and see what they do to help out the environment. You will continue to have a high turnover rate until you improve your call center. There are a lot of employees who have been there for a long time that with the new way... of doing things are ready to leave. You are going to loose a lot of good people.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

My co-workers are what kept me there so long.

    Cons

Management is a joke. They were extreme micromanagers and very cliquey with each other. They made it known who they favored and many deserving associates couldn't progress in their roles simply because they weren't favored. You have to take your breaks and lunches at the exact times they schedule you for (which differed every day) and if you got stuck on a call and went on break late, it would negatively affect... your numbers - which ultimately decided your bonus. This place is a sweatshop. You are expected to take non stop calls your entire shift. There is no break in between calls so you aren't even left with time to make notes on the customers accounts you just spoke to - as soon as they hang up, another call immediately comes through with no choice to decline the call. On average there is at least a 5-10 minute wait for customers to get through to a representative. Customers are already aggravated by the time you speak to them - it's like the company sets you up for failure. They clearly need to hire more people for the role. The turnover rate is so high because employees are so unhappy. Glad I'm out of there.

I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Health benefits and 401k are decent.

    Cons

The call center environment is unbearable. You’ll be on the phones constantly with your breaks scheduled for you. You only get time off of the phones to be yelled at by your manager for stupid, minuscule details. Nothing you do will ever be good enough. The constant barrage of awful customers on the phone and negative feedback from management will wear you down. And trying to get a role off the phones? Don’t... even think about it! You’re stuck with the stigma of being a call center employee. Bottom line - This place will suck the life out of you. The day I walked out was one of the best days of my life.

    Advice to Management

Try treating people with a little more dignity and respect. Don’t treat call center employees like children or idiots.

I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Tuition Reimbursement Match is good if you give 6+ years of service Good name on the resume

    Cons

Once you get on the phones in the call center, thats all you will do. Don't think this position is your "foot in the door". You must give 3-5 years in this position answering calls (even with a masters in Economics) before you move to a non-call center job (I even head this from senior leadership). I know of one person who moved to a non call center related job - after working there for 7 years. Great people and I... love the company, just stay away from anything call center related.

    Advice to Management

Stop backing people into corners and telling them to keep working hard and they will move up (you can only say this so many times).

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great benefits, great environment, good pay, great development, great leadership, great opportunities

    Cons

Culture is stale. Most people work here for their entire careers and so it is full of older people stuck in their own way of doing things.

    Advice to Management

Hire younger people to promote innovation
