I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Fidelity is a privately-held company that offers tremendous opportunity to ambitious and talented people. Salaries seem competitive, culture is exemplary and the benefits are second to none.

    Cons

Big corporate culture - but even that is mitigated by strong leadership and culture

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great leadership with high ethics and innate values system. Employee friendly. Highly flexible work life balance. Competitive salary if you perform well.

    Cons

Need to be careful when hiring leaders from outside organizations.

    Advice to Management

Instead of hiring leaders from outside, promote leaders from inside the organization who have Fidelity values incorporated into them to maintain a healthy workplace environment.

I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Really good training, their sales process is taught to other firms but they do a great job of driving the process home. Best benefits in the industry and they are now offering flexibility to work from home. They will pay for your licenses and CFP. You can learn as much as you want to learn, plenty of resources available for you. Great place to gain experience. You'll never have to cold call for prospects.

    Cons

At the end of the day your job is to sell a managed solution to the client by giving the illusion that you are actually doing financial planning for them. The turnover at the branches brings down client satisfaction. It is definitely a what have you done for me lately type of place. Monthly business reviews can be brutal for people who are not producing. You might have managers or trainers that have never been... in your seat, or could not cut it so they transitioned. Makes it difficult to have them coach when they have not done it. You make just enough money that its difficult to leave, and they do that on purpose. My advice for people is to get your certifications and a few years experience and then look elsewhere before you start making so much that its hard to leave.

    Advice to Management

Choose what you want your business model to be. Make it ok for advisors to give advice to people without trying to jam them into a managed account.

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Flexible, competitive, great benefits and profit sharing.

    Cons

Different business units can feel like you are working at a completely different company. Still plenty of improvement needs to be done around gender equality. Men are compensated at a higher rate than women and considered first for promotions.

    Advice to Management

VPs and above should do a better job at communicating with employees and understand what is going on, not just accepting what they are told by someone who wants to be viewed in a positive light. Also, more work should be done around gender equality!
