    Pros

i dont know, i dont know

    Cons

It's a call center not engineering company. It's top heavy company. More management than who are useful people. Pace over perfection is Mantra which is nonsense. They just do for the sake of doing and saving their you know, and not for the sake of work. Recently they wasted 27 million dollars during adoption of third party vendor product. They could not identify until later stages it was not the product for their... need. Such is the expertise of folks here. Clearing interview is easy here so no expertise at all. People who work here get stuck for long time not able to get out, since they do work here on developed legacy systems, which are like 10 years backward in the industry. Central infrastructure team provides infra which are just wrappers over APIs like spring APIs or so which just make u useless upon using it. Since u won't know the actual technology since u just use the wrapper APIs . If you are very nice at pleasing management, then u get promotions and not based on the ability or work done. Lot more to say, but enough for now.

I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great 401k match if you can afford to contribute. Profit sharing, PTO is given at the beginning of the year, the people work with, training program was good when I went through it, they help pay back your student loans.

    Cons

It’s a typical call center with hours all over the place. They will tell you there is no “mandatory” overtime but there is and if you opt out of it you will get nasty messages. Bonuses are based off of call surveys which sometimes you will get a bad survey that wasn’t even from a call you took and there’s nothing you can do about it. Even if you move to another product you will still be overloaded with 401k calls.... If you have to go to the bathroom and it’s not during a break or lunch it counts against you. If you don’t plan your days off at least a month in advanced it counts against you. There are more things that count against you then for you. The environment has gotten really bad lately and you can feel it when you walk in the door. Fidelity throws benefits at you but then doesn’t bother to check in on the call center. Turnover rate is really high.

    Advice to Management

Take a look at your call center. Offering a raffle in exchange for overtime hours mean nothing. Passing out a $1 snack item for working a 12 hour day means nothing. Look at other companies around you and see what they do to help out the environment. You will continue to have a high turnover rate until you improve your call center. There are a lot of employees who have been there for a long time that with the new way... of doing things are ready to leave. You are going to loose a lot of good people.

    Pros

Great benefits and pay. Senior leadership is wonderful, and so are the values of the overall company. Many resources and benefits provided to employees including profit sharing, bonuses, training, tuition reimbursement and career development resources available.

    Cons

Difficulty in advancing, it is a lot of who you know and are network with less of the skills that you bring. Don't count on advancing unless you spend a lot of time networking with the people/ groups that you are looking to move into. Culture especially in the call center can be an issue. A lot of office politics and harassment issues that get swept under the rug by management. Some are addressed appropriately... (if HR gets involved) but there were numerous occasions I have seen management quietly sweep issues under the rug, discourage people from calling HR to protect other employees and things like people getting promoted after sleeping with their boss. While this is not every area and all departments was something that was observed by myself and others in the many years we worked there.

    Advice to Management

Retake all of the safe workplace training's and truly know and understand how to be ethical and help your employees in order to stop losing good people who are fed up with the culture.

I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Health benefits and 401k are decent.

    Cons

The call center environment is unbearable. You’ll be on the phones constantly with your breaks scheduled for you. You only get time off of the phones to be yelled at by your manager for stupid, minuscule details. Nothing you do will ever be good enough. The constant barrage of awful customers on the phone and negative feedback from management will wear you down. And trying to get a role off the phones? Don’t... even think about it! You’re stuck with the stigma of being a call center employee. Bottom line - This place will suck the life out of you. The day I walked out was one of the best days of my life.

    Advice to Management

Try treating people with a little more dignity and respect. Don’t treat call center employees like children or idiots.

    I worked at Fidelity Investments

    Pros

Pay is better than most call centers

    Cons

It’s a call center. Few opportunities for growth. They only care about metrics. Culture is hit or miss depending on your manager/team. HR is incredibly unorganized. If you don’t meet their performance metrics they will take away your benefits (student loan reimbursement). No raises after three years of employment.

    Advice to Management

Stop being cheap and pay your employees more. Abby Johnson can afford to be competitive with the industry. Stop focusing on metrics that burn out employees and contribute to an ongoing workplace depression epidemic. Instead of focusing on the wellbeing of employee metrics focus on the wellbeing of your employees.
