I have been working at Firestone Complete Auto Care full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

can be a great place to work, depends on store personnel.
long time employee and have had many opportunities presented to me.

    Cons

non automotive people at corporate making decisions that affect people in the store, a place where corporate rarely goes. Company is constantly changing their direction, they don't know where they are going , again people from non automotive fields making decisions.in a automotive repair facility Extremely high turn over from the highest to the lowest level, always short handed.. Company is more interested in customer survey results than fixing the car.

    Advice to Management

Trim the fat at the corporate level, too many people in the tower.
Hire people from within that have automotive knowledge, you, the people from corporate wouldn't hire someone with no medical background to a knee replacement , why do the same for automotive repair, hire people that know what its like to work in a repair shop.

    Pros

Small stores mean good relationships with employees, benefits are good. Managers will defend you if customers or employees get riled up. Advancement is possible with time and effort invested.

    Cons

Schedule changes without notice, consistently understaffed stores, overstocked on tires at every store, lies and short sighted decisions from upper management. We lost a tech because our district manager had to make his flagship store look good to corporate, and we never got the replacement he promised. If you have a conscience, you’ll occasionally go without lunch or breaks because customers don’t want to be there.

    Advice to Management

Don’t try to move techs out of small stores without replacements. Working stores five staff members short is extremely tough on the remaining employees.
