I worked at GHD full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    * Brilliant co-workers across all disciplines.

    Cons

    * Long hours - expect ridiculous hours due to the high charge out rate of employees and competition from smaller companies (Unless working on a government funded project). * Low team cohesion - Different senior staff have directly opposing review standards (ensure that only one Project Director reviews your work). * No training/support provided (Expect no help as everyone else is struggling with their own timesheets or deadlines). * Seniors stressed out over multiple deadlines but does not allow you to help due to the jobs not having any budget

I worked at GHD for less than a year

    Pros

    - Opportunities to work on large scale projects in design and project management capacities - Applying theory to practice - Younger coworkers, good social aspects - Can work in multiple industries

    Cons

    - Generally consultancy means hard work and long hours - Work can be more "admin" and less engineering at times due to cheap rates of interns - The experience does tend to depend on which team/service group you are placed in

    I worked at GHD

    Pros

Friendly culture and staff that were actually my friends. I liked the atmosphere and enjoyed coming to work every day. Overall a positive experience

    Cons

Long hours and at times stressful. Design meetings were stressful and there were days when I couldn't focus properly as I had a lot of work to do.

    I worked at GHD

    Pros

Some interesting projects (sometimes). Great people/colleagues. Nice office space/location.

    Cons

Long hours, expectation to use leave as a timesheet filler when times are tough, no professional development (training, up-skilling- has to be 'on the job' and even then no allocation of additional time for this purpose). Very stressed out management most of the time, a generally unpleasant working environment on most days.

I have been working at GHD full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Interesting and varied projects with good opportunities if you have the right stuff

    Cons

Pay freeze has been going on for 3 or so years which is a pain, but can see the reasons in current climate. Moral down because of this and people in survival mode (ie work long hours, keep work to yourself to keep chargeabilty up).

I have been working at GHD full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great culture, keen motivated people ready to go the extra mile for client and fellow employees. Great place to get engineering experience, prepared to encourage initiative. Very social. Possibility to become an owner of the company. Brought in some good guys in senior Energy and Resource roles very recently.

    Cons

Tougher times leading to less work, need to put in the hours when required, sometime long hours. Do not pay for Engineers Australia subscription
