I have been working at General Mills full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

A great culture, flexible, half day Fridays, lots of opportunity to grow skill set with sideways moves, top talent is nurtured

    Cons

Going through an immense time of change and restructure with centralisation to a regional team comes with its challenges.

I worked at General Mills full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Half day Friday's are awesome. Only there because they don't pay as well as other organizations.

    Cons

General Mills Australia has totally misread the Australian grocery space by not adapting and developing brands that were once innovators and leaders in their categories as opposed to brands that now follow their competition with zero innovation. Head office in Melbourne has been turned into an uninspiring dog eat dog culture that has seen many good people leave. What was once a great culture of inclusion and common...

    Advice to Management

Bring back James Wright a truly great MD who knew how to motivate an organization.

I worked at General Mills full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great people at many levels of the company, flexible work attire, intelligent creative minds, family feel, half day Fridays throughout the year, fantastic products!

    Cons

Salary is low, the culture is turning aggressive, low retention rate, junior employees are not protected and are expected to be agressive or get out, lack of "promoting from within".

    Advice to Management

Protect your employees. Do not hire a lot of people who come from the same company that has a culture known for low retention rates due to breeding a culture of "if you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen" as this will continue to foster aggression and damage retention rate of current high-performing employees.
