I have been working at GlaxoSmithKline full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Absolutely love working at GSK. They have an extremely supportive environment. Lots of personal and professional development opportunities in the form or secondments, training, global projects, etc.

    Cons

Fast paced environment with increasing work loads at times.

    Advice to Management

Keep communication lines open and continue to support and grow your staff

I worked at GlaxoSmithKline full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great frontline staff, great products that make a difference for people around the world, interesting work

    Cons

Poor management at middle and senior levels - short sighted decisions, self protection for those who have been there a long time, inability to make decisions for the longer term

    Advice to Management

Lose 25-50% of management to empower frontline and value add staff. Think and act beyond annual budget

I worked at GlaxoSmithKline full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good salary package, well-known international brand for future career prospects (GSK is not a forever home), training opportunities and professional development

    Cons

Incredibly long working hours, temperamental leadership team who value $ over people (typical drug company), stressful work environment for little reward, self-promoting corporate environment, non supportive of working parents / awful work-life balance (expect 14 hour days and weekends to work)

    Advice to Management

    None

I have been working at GlaxoSmithKline full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There are some strong workers, great bonus and work from home policy, generous leave options and some really supporting people. Pay is good.

    Cons

Alot of managers dont live by values. Short term decision making, lots of non value add meetings. Culture surveys have been bad and not shared properly with whole organisation,

    Advice to Management

Find a way to balance long term and short term planning. Be honest about the culture problems rather than hiding them.

I worked at GlaxoSmithKline full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Large company, many roles. Was willing to support unconventional moves and people with high potential

    Cons

Short term perspectives, less and less willing to invest in career development over time

    Advice to Management

Decisions to cut spending with the sole purpose of achieving the current years 'numbers' without consideration for the longer term ramifications of such actions is flawed strategy
