I have been working at GlaxoSmithKline full-time

    Pros

High values, patient focused and inclusive environment. GSK is a 5 star company and it shows. I’ve always felt welcomed here and the people I work with are brilliant. Decent pay, good benefits, highly respected and renowned company

    Cons

They tend to be a bit stingy when it comes to expense especially for conferences and I feel the pay could be better for the amount of work you do but can’t complain too much. Things always seem to be changing and could be hard to keep up if you aren’t agile

I have been working at GlaxoSmithKline full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Professional company atmosphere; culture is to do the right thing and have patients as first priority; goal is to be a trusted pharma company

    Cons

Bureaucratic; continuous reorganizations what result in unexpected downsizing and ending of projects without much notice; change to processes and team structure at a rapid pace; employees are often overworked or not secure in future; many employees are contract workers or ex employees who were laid off and have been hired back without benefits

I worked at GlaxoSmithKline full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Benefits are great. Flexible work options in most departments. Growth in Vaccines portfolio. Most departments work as a team. Very lean organization internally. CEO is making some changes to return back to being a competitive company.

    Cons

Many departments micromanage. Looking for next big product (cash flow can be an issue for bold new ideas as a result). Limited upward promotional opportunities. Some departments are understaffed making workloads heavy. (internal). Significant transformational changes in R&D organization, good in the long run but chaos for now. Limited money spent on employee entertainment.

    Pros

Lots of autonomy, entrepreneurial spirit, great products and brands and people care about what they're doing. Relationships are key to being successful within the organization.

    Cons

Not a lot of structure, not much upward mobility or career opportunities within the US market. Organization can feel very silohed.
