    Pros

Staff discount on childcare fees. But even this is hardly a pro when you know your child will not receive the care and attention they need from Educators due to understaffing.

    Cons

The company cares only about profits. The company spends big dollars on publications and training that supports great practice but does not adequately staff centres to implement the content. Centres staff across the Building to cover ratio leaving many staff in direct supervision of children way outside the maximum legal ratio. Children are treated as potential profits and are moved around Centre rooms from day to day...

    Advice to Management

Stop talking the talk and start walking it. Your company is toxic not only to the over worked floor staff but sadly to many Australian children.

I worked at Goodstart Early Learning part-time

      Pros

The children are lovely and wonderful to be around. The parents are delightful and full of praise for the staff.

      Cons

Bad culture of bullying. Poorly managed. Profit is more important than anything else. Unpaid overtime is expected. There is low morale in the workplace. Complaints are swept under the carpet. Higher management don't respond to complaints about centre management. Please please don't work for this company, you deserve better.

      Advice to Management

Restructure the company. Too many chiefs in the organisation. Address bullying. It is a VERY SERIOUS matter. I suspect goodstart will follow the path of ABC.

I have been working at Goodstart Early Learning

      Pros

Uniforms for staff lovely children parents that encourage and appreciate educators

      Cons

Leadership is missing from the top down The leadership is only as good as the top leader Dissapointing behaviour from directors area manager's and state managets who just give educators lots of pop talks There is total lack of leadership and educators are at a diadvantage because of this Issues are handled poorly without resolution so that indidents not addressed leave educators feeling disempowered

      Advice to Management

Please management start an intense training for anybody in leadership That way you will make Goodstart a culture of strong ethics and work practices

I worked at Goodstart Early Learning part-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Free uniforms and great discounts on child care fees. The Director makes the centre so a great Director = great workplace

      Cons

The company may have changed names but the culture is unfortunately still toxic, in some centres. Management need to listen to employees rather than just directors and area managers

      Advice to Management

Start acting like a not for profit organisation which puts the children first. At the moment, you are still too concerned about profits

      Pros

constant staff training/self-improvement opportunities, Frequent seminars available to staff. strong community involvement. great director. Wonderful and diverse group of ladies to work with.

      Cons

Can be tricky fitting in the required 10min breaks during shifts (only due to room routines which would be the same everywhere). Sometimes struggle to get through the required amount paperwork.

      Advice to Management

Give yourself a holiday... you deserve it!

      Negative Outlook

I have been working at Goodstart Early Learning

      Pros

it's supposed to be non profit so the play yards are better maintained now than the time of ABC.

      Cons

some centres are better than the others. But generally, smaller centres are better than the bigger ones. Children in the bigger centres tend to get less attention and individual attention can be quite bad. The management successfully trains robots with no face of humanities. As long as following the "rules" then it's all good. No personal touch (most of the time).

      Advice to Management

your management has no personal face, just robots. Some of your staffs are friendly and genuinely nice and love children. But the management team can be something else.

I have been working at Goodstart Early Learning part-time

      Pros

No good reason to work there, unless you are lazy & a good liar.

      Cons

Not a good word to say. Badly trained staff, just as bad Directors - usually stressing OR completely uncaring. Staff who rarely do chores, sunscreen Children, toilet properly, soothe to sleep - too many faults to mention. The "popular staff" seem to be the laziest & some how get away with doing the bare minimum all day. Some staff hardly in room all day.

      Advice to Management

Get down on the floor. LISTEN to your staff. These are ALL WOMAN - do group work with them. It's a TOUGH JOB if you are doing it properly. Use incentives. Make them feel special on occasions. Even human would do!
