I worked at HOYTS part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - great experience ( for that I recommend ) - learn to work in a fast paced environment - learn to work against the clock to clean cinemas - learn to multitask - learn great customer service and how to use KPI, POS and how to upsell. Really helpful for working in customer service

    Cons

    - if you need a day off, you’ll be ‘punished’ for it and get less shifts the next week - you’re expected to put work before everything. Too bad if you’ve have a uni assignment - they make you feel bad for taking a sick day - if you request annual leave they will still roster you on that day and tell you to sort out changing the days your working yourself ( swap with someone else don’t call in sick or you’ll... need a medical certificate) - you’ll be doing a lot of work for minimal dollars and run off your feet - once you’re over 15 your hours drop and they hire younger people

I have been working at HOYTS part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The staff are all really friendly and good to make friends with

    Cons

Customers are super assy about EVERYTHING Management tend to play favourites and often hand out punishments and penalties for miniscule issues Pay rate is horrible, about $15 per hour if you're 18 and $10 if you're 15

    Advice to Management

If you want your employees to do more then pay them more, you get what you pay for

I worked at HOYTS part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Flexible, friendly coworkers, workload isn't a lot, great employee perks and discounts,

    Cons

    - Relatively low pay - Favouritism within management as most managers were previous workers that have been promoted so they always favour their friends and older staff - Some managers made their dislike towards new staff rather obvious - Some managers could be rather snarky and standoffish at times - Skills gained at Hoyts aren't extremely beneficial or relevant when hunting for other jobs

    Advice to Management

I think majority of the management team at chadstone hoyts were very professional and friendly, however my advice to the latter would be to act more professional as this is a workplace and put your opinions and judgement of others aside and treat all staff equally and with respect.
