I worked at HSBC Holdings full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Diversity is promoted, wide network of opportunities, Stuart Gulliver seems sincere in valuing employees

    Cons

The HSBC values are force fed to employees on the ground up to middle management but senior management behavior and mindset remains territorial and defensive. This causes dissatisfaction among middle management as they are the ones who see them going against the values.

    Advice to Management

I don't have a sensible recommendation for the cons but it is worth looking into. Sure, in many organizations idiots find their way to the top. But there are just too many here.

    Cons

It's a bank and an old one so expect process to be slow. But the bank is working towards overcoming this. Large number of people doing small bits of work hence it takes time for you to get the bigger picture.
